Lab Report: Converting Copper

LAB REPORT
Converting Copper

Results:
1. a.As we heated the copper we observed that the copper turned from red to black.
    b. Yes, the copper atoms remained in the crucible because it is still the same material, just a different appearance.

2. a. The changes we observed are chemical changes.
    b. This is because the copper changed different colors because copper oxidized by combining with the oxygen gas in the air.

3. a. After we heated the contents in the crucible, the mass increased.
    b. The mass of the crucible contents increased in that manner because the contents combined with the oxygen in the air, which made the contents weigh more.
